...where strange and mystical creatures live their dreams, where angels fly and chairs have wings...
Fantasy oil painting or Phantasy oil painting? - the birth of the word...
... it all started with "phantos": visible. This word originates from "phantazesthai" which means "to appear". That strange verb was born from "phantasi" meaning "imagination" in Greek. Later adopted by the Latin language to be transformed into "Phantasia". We finally come to the elaborate end of the evolution of this word as "fantasie" (old French) which was also taken over by the English language.
Today the word can be spelt either with "ph" or an "f" and can end either in "ie" or "y".
Definition of the word "phantasy"... |
| Most people see imagination and the thought of fantasy as something that cannot be, just places and creatures that we create in order to escape from the every day life that seems to plague us. But fantasy that as one kind of oil painting is very real indeed.
It is very sad that "grown ups" "grow out of" imagination, labelling it as simple childishness. How exciting and liberating it is to have ones' own complex-complicated world, a place where on favoritearts.info _reality can play, relax and be one with the so called unreality. Now everything is in Favorite Chain Studio’s complex-complicated oil painting!
Definition of "art" including complex-complicated oil painting...
You have learned that everything we do and everything that "is" is an art in it's self (whether good or bad). We just don't value this thought nowadays because we get too stuck in a certain rythmn that tends to supress our time for good thoughts. We take the art of smiling, laughing or just being ourselves for granted. |

The type of art for which my web-site stands is the art of the "ability to capture shapes, shadows, light, life, feelings, emotions and meanings" on a simple and patient sheet of paper.

Fantasy for children and adults!
Most of us have grown up with fantasy oil painting and literature--from Mother Goose to Walt Disney--but it’s definitely not a realm limited to children. A child easily enjoys fantasy, but often one understands and appreciates these works a great deal more in the light of life experience. Fantasy can simply entertain and refresh, but filled with metaphor and often satire, it can also enlighten, or poke fun. It can transport us to strange new realms, and in doing so perhaps alter the way we look at our lives. To adults, fantasy on favoritearts.info offers new ways to explore concepts, and experiences common to, but separate from real life, and perhaps get a greater appreciation thereof. In opening our minds to a fantasy, we don’t necessarily escape from reality, but learn to view it in a new light. It can startle us or make us laugh. Scare us or inspire us. Many times in examining fantasy, we can learn something new about ourselves and our fellowman. |
